Use glucometer to monitor blood sugar levels

Glucometer or glucose meter companion kit has battery operated glucometer device, lancing device, lancets, glucometer strips with code chip, cotton swab and dairy. It has the socket in the device to insert code chip, this chip comes with test strips. It has memory button which when you press and hold for few seconds the screen displays previous reading and when you press scroll button it takes you through the saved readings. It has container that has test strips, here you can see the no. of strips, code no. (please note this code should match with the code on the chip that comes with the strips and is inserted in the device) expiry date and batch no.Test strip with an arrow mark on the strip which indicates the direction of the end which goes inside the device and the green square is the space for blood drop. You can see the green area fits on the sensor of the device, the moment you insert the strip you can see the code displayed on the screen and after 3 to 4 seconds when the display shows strip with drop of blood image the device is ready. The finger pricking device or lancing device, you can see the readings from 1 to 5 near to the pricking end of the device, lesser reading is set for thin skin and increase it up to 5 based on the thickness of the skin ...usually for average skin depth of prick is set at 3. Cap at the pricking end of the lancing device is pulled out to place lancet, this is lancet container has come with 25 lancets...and also has thickness of needle is 28G or 0.4mm,,Insert the flat end of lancet into the socket till it fits inside the device with small click sound, after inserting hold the same end and rotate the other end to remove needle cap, now we can see the needle, press the top button to keep the lancing device ready for prick. The button on the side of the device is used to shot the lancet for prick keep cotton swap ready and one may have dairy to record the results.

After having lancing device ready to prick and having glucometer ready for test, clean the hands for prick and wipe it dry....tap the finger to be pricked to ensure there is adequate circulation of blood, best site for prick is the sides of distal end of finger with rich capillary blood, now hold the lancet flat at the site of prick and press the prick button on the side of the device....please ensure not to squeeze the finger too much as it may give false readings...wipe the initial drop of the blood, as it may give false reading after mixing with alcohol used in swab....then place the drop of the blood on the green area such that the drop spreads on the entire green area, too low blood volume will show error. and the reading is 83.
